'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' premiere: Will Smith does the evolution of hip-hop dancing

The "Tonight Show" torch has been passed -- Jay Leno said goodbye (again) on Feb. 7 and on Monday (Feb. 17), Jimmy Fallonpremiered as the new host. How do you think he did?

It was kind of cute the way the show started. Fallon came out and did an introduction where he thanked everyone for letting him be there -- though there were a few jokes, like, "I'm Jimmy Fallon and I'll be your host ... for now."

But it was mostly just a sweet thank-you to past "Tonight Show" hosts, his parents, in-house band The Roots, co-host Stevie Higgins and the audience at home. Then the show re-introduced Fallon and he started the official monologue.

The monologue focused heavily on the Winter Olympics, which was a nice safe topic and also pretty funny. We enjoyed the Tonight Show Superlatives for various Olympic athletes.

The first comic bit was full of guest-stars who supposedly bet Fallon that he'd never host "The Tonight Show" and came to pay up: Robert DeNiro, Tina Fey, Broadway Joe Namath, Rudy Giuliani, Mariah Carey, Tracy Morgan, Joan Rivers, Seth Rogen, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mike Tyson, Lady Gaga, Stephen Colbert (with a bucket full of $100 in pennies and the message, "Welcome to 11:30, b****!") and ... Kim Kardashian, because just like when Leno said goodbye, NBC Universal synergy means that a Kardashian must be involved in everything.

The show was also highlighted by Will Smith as the first guest, who awesomely took part in Fallon's first musical bit when they did the evolution of hip-hop dancing together -- including "The Carlton." Then legendary rock band U2 performed. We'll post video as soon as we have it.
